Can Grapefruit Curb Appetite?

Eating grapefruit may not help you lose much weight but it may very well help curb appetite.

There’s been a very popular diet floating around for years called “the grapefruit diet”.  Essentially it has you eat grapefruit and drink grapefruit juice along with lots of proteins and very little carbs.  Total calorie intake is reduced to around 800-1000 calories per day.  Dieters report dropping 3-10 pounds over a 3 month period.

Considering the reduced calories it’s not that odd that some weight was lost.

The interesting thing about grapefruit is that it is very low on the glycemic index.  That coupled with the fact that it is a high fiber food and naturally low in calories make it an excellent appetite suppressant.

Eating grapefruit or drinking some grapefruit juice will help reduce your insulin leverls and help you feel full.  If you’re looking for a safe appetite suppressant that will curb appetite then grapefruit may work great for you.
